As a 1st time owner-op would you buy a used truck (pete or KW) with 1 million miles plus on it?

You got other issues to consider besides its mileage. Has the trans been rebuilt? How about the motor, has it been rebuilt, reconditioned? A million miles is the life expectantcy of engines. Is the truck young enough, new enough to be leased on to a company you are considering leasing it to? The other aspects or parts of the truck, so many and too numerous to mention.
The big one is, is can you lease it onto the company you want to with its age and mileage?
Consider, many trucks with way less miles on them are mechanical nightmares.
good luck in your choice, personally I would choose the pete, a better resale value and it might hold its value longer.
just fyimje Thanks this. -
p.s.
I am not an expert by any means, so you'll just have to decide whats right for you. But just to add a few things.
There is a vast amount of used trucks hitting the market. The Freightliner Dealership where I live has a parking lot thats full of them. Used trucks are sitting everywhere it seems, there is no shortage of them.
Think in terms of a used car, the salesman shows you some with 10K, then 20, then 30, then 200,000 miles, its almost the same principle isn't it? and you must know yourself, that you can buy a low mileage used car that looks great on the outside, but is a piece of junk mechanically speaking. So when you see one almost at the top of its mileage range, it should give you cause or a reason to suspect that something may be wrong, or can easily go wrong very shortly.
just my opinion, thats all.mje Thanks this.
