Well.......Its not so much what he nets or grosses per week..(Some guys here in Chicago are netting 1200-1500 a week after fuel) and make a good living.
Its about what can happen to him if he goes on the road..Hmmm, this is a tough one.
Do you have ANY money saved anywhere.....?
Selling the truck is not really an option......You leave one headache to another..AND another note to pay..
Try borrrowing 5-10k somewhere so you can get back rolling again......Baby that truck!!! Pray you can make a few months before anything else breaks

One week we will work a full week. Ill gross about 4000.00 my fuel is usually 900-1500 a week. My insurance is 113 a week and then taxes leaves me around 2500.00. But then say next week i gross 1300 because we didnt work all that much and then the week after i gross 3000 then the next 2400. Its never a perfect week. Atleast otr i could choose when to run and not run and not worry about working the next day due to things beyond my control

i put in 12-18 hr days and a roundtrip is about 110 miles i get around 275 a load in 14 hrs you can do 3 loads when you factor in unload and load times. -
Logging is not for everyone, some weeks you do well and just when you think things are going great, you get rained out or the mills become full. Added to that the numerous hours you spend each week sitting in line waiting to get unloaded and to top it all off, the Logger wants you return empty so that you can do more of his loads.
Best advise is to do lots of research and plan your exit, know what you will do and when you will do it. In my opinion $3600 a month is a little more than one log truck can net consistently, but that's only my opinion. -
I'm sorry but I have lots of buddy's that are company drivers and bring home $1,000+ a week take home every week and home every day so tell me why anyone would go out and buy a truck to bring home $1,500 a week and have to worry about brake downs and tires etc???

Just the way it is Pal.........After the cost of fuel,tolls..Guys are ok with $12-$1500 dollars per week... Then they put $500 per week away for maintenance,taxes etc..And they make their $1,000
And No......Many company drivers are not netting $1,000 per week AFTER taxes.....Unless you drive Union.(Which I encourage) -
If you have verifiable driving history with a clean record, lease on with a good company. They will do your plates, IFTA, trailer, and give you a fuel card or fuel advance. You really dont need any more than that for a week to two. Then you will have money built up to keep rolling. I have been looking into many O/O leased on deals, and have found if you dont mind being away from home all week you can net $2500. Then when you get "back on your feet", you can go out on your own. Good luck, as others have stated, dont just give up.
