Hi guys need some advice.
Started with a company recently.
My in law was the one who found them,
He was supposed to train me (company allowed it)
But sucked.Yes negligent, pretty much the way he lives his life.Reason I went with him was to make a little more as a team, but i couldnt sleep plus I learned everything by either googling or youtubing.Keep in mind this is my first time ever going otr and first time behind a full trailer since school 3 years ago. (Drove a straight truck locally)
Ok so he quits after two runs and i end up going solo
Cool.
But thing is the company kinda sucks.Truck they gave us has a host of issues with only one mechanic.
Im out here solo which i do like, but dispatch doesnt seem to realize the trucks cant travel at 100 mph and I cant travel 24 /7.
Things happen like traffic or over crowded truck stops. They dont tell me to run illegal (paper logs) but thats really the only way possible to make these trips. At least this one.My in law did did quit last minute. So idk.
My initial choice was the big orange which I should have just done in the first place.
Also, just today I bumped the dock a bit hard (that was a stressful tight spot btw)
And for some reason the bumpers on the dock were extremely worn out.My mistake. But I did Goal about 12 times while backing into hell.I just pissed myself off cuz even though im new,im a pretty good driver but yet managed a stupid little screw up while docking.I really barely had my foot on the pedal. It wasnt a down facing dock, but slightly upwards.
So now the left door has trouble closing. So question is,
will I have trouble for something that small when applying elsewhere
No other damage besides the trailer door where it hinges.
Thanks guys.

Apply with a decent company this time. No big deal on the door. Why are your private messages blocked? Where is your location, so we know the hiring area you live in and can help you find a decent company.
Jmans Thanks this. -
I have no idea why they are blocked.
But yes I am aiming for a company that will be good to me.Ill check my settings asap on that Pm.Thanks Chinatown. -
Check every nut on those trailer doors, Bet you might be missing a few. Or bent at least one.
One word when dispatch wants you to run that mythical overnight 1000 miles by sunup after you just burnt all your hours driving 600 today "No."
Run within your recap. You are not a team anymore. Run as a solo. Remember the word no.
Remember the trip planning against your recap. You cannot work if you don't have hours. plan ahead for days you don't have hours. DO NOT take on trips for which you don't have hours to be on time.
Docks are very tough, you cannot hurt them. But they can hurt you.
Whatever speed you run at (Governor etc) is the speed you average out your trip planning, usually 45 is what most companies expect and 30 is what I actually use in my own planning so I can instantly divide that number by a pay mile 1000 times 20% qouted by dispatcher on the phone asking if i can do it? against how many hours I have left on recap.
Algebra anyone? I hate math... but we run on it.
Scale every load. Correct overweights, especially return to shipper with overgross. Never leave shipper more than 10 minutes without finding that CAT scale... or even that grain elevator scale they might be happy to weight you for a few dollars even if you don't belong in the coop.
It's never ending cycle. Day, and night etc. sleep when you feel that there is nothing to do at the moment because you don't know when you will be doing that over night again.
Most companies are aware of new anti corection laws made around 2013 at the federal level and will not implictly tell you to break your logs. But do remember the word no. and why.
Most everything else you will have to sort yourself out on that list. There is a easy way to do this or the hard way, I think you are going about it rather difficult.Just passing by and Jmans Thank this. -
Thank you for the advice.
Yes I plan fairly well for the most part.
I think.lol -
