I started with Prime Inc. in Feburary. Got my CDL. Did my training and am finally solo. I went lease right out of the gate. Im making money. I pull a paycheck for my expenses at home and have money in the bank for truck expenses and taxes. But in the last week i’ve had some family issues come up that i need to be home for. I had all intentions of sticking my year out to repay my contract for Prime training me. But i have a solid opportunity to run a local gig monday-friday. I say solid because i have a job offer from them. Which means ill be home more to take of things here. My dilemma is how to go about telling them im leaving. I know ill be responsible for my tuition and anything outstanding with my lease. I'm just not sure how to go about it. Any advice is helpful. Thank you in advance.

Pretty simple really. Just tell them what you told us and have them route you to wherever they want the truck. If possible you might want to go by the house and drop some of your stuff off first. You will need to rent a car or something to get home from wherever they have you take the truck. Best wishes in your new endeavor!

Good advice. Do it that way. Turn in your notice that you're resigning and ask where they want the truck turned in. Your personal life and any job prospects aren't their business.

I thankfully live 10 minutes from one of the terminals. So getting home isn’t a problem. And I don’t have much on the truck either. Just my gps, phone mount, cb, etc.

You can just walk away from the lease?

He said in the post that he knows he will be responsible for what is remaining on the lease.

I see that now. I have never looked into leasing. Seems like it would be very costly to walk away.

It is. At least the anecdotal evidence I've heard. But if he knows what he's getting himself into, then I support it.
