I agree with Paddletrucker & Outerspace... it's great that you care enough and APPRECIATE their hard work.

Giving them a choice is nice, but I also think just cash or gift card may not be fully appreciated that much. I got one last year for $150, and it took me 8 mos to remember to use it! However, cost of PM's and Blue Beacon is costly, so it's nice to be given those cards.

As foir a cruise, awesome idea but how many drivers would take a week off to do it? My husband still has yet to go on a cruse with me, I've been waiting 7+ yrs, he likes driving his truck and never took vacations before we were married. I"ve gotten him to take a few short weekend vaca's - but never a weeklong one! (Yes, he still actually loves me - just also loves the road and won't give up a week's pay, plus make a truck payment!). Now I take cruises with a female friend, no - I"m not gay, and then he takes me on short weekend get-aways!

Compromise and get them a 3 day weekend hotel package plus PM for truck! Both family and work, since owner ops do need to include families!

I'm glad a few companies still appreciate their drivers! THanks and keep it up. We need more like you in this business! :biggrin_25514:

What? if does not have to be taxed. give each one a couple franklin's in a christmas card. or more if you like. I don't remember ever reporting any of my money gifts on christmas, b day's , e.t.c. over the years. and I never reported if I gave any such gift's.

cash is more versatile than anything else. if the driver does not know what to buy himself, then I am sure he can give the money to his wife & she would know what he needs or want's.

cash is nice but forget that. Give them something they will use all year (and bragg in the truck stop about)
truck specific gps, a years paid subscription to sirrius or xm radio, a real nice mattress or at least a nice topper, corney as it sounds one of the best presents i ever got was a boot brush and 2 new windshield wipers the expensive kind i'd never buy for myself

Thank you all for your feed back!
So, the message I am getting here is to get something trucking/driver-related, more than something for the home/family. ....you have given me some great ideas - something "deluxe" that they might not take the $$ to buy themselves.

I guess if I do this for the other guys, I'll have to let my husband buy that 26" TV he's been begging for!! lol

BTW, the phrase "I run my husband" is redundant and unnecessary to all us married guys out here.:biggrin_2559:

Our company is owned by the same guy who owns the Tennessee Titans and every Dec we get a nice meeting/meal at a high end restaurant and a cash bonus check. Last year mine was $1100. I keep hoping that someone at corporate will screw up and send us the Titan checks instead.:biggrin_2559: Lord knows we produce more reliably and profit wise than the players he's been hiring.:biggrin_25525: Go Saints!!!:biggrin_2559:

As far as giving an employee a cash bonus (I'm not sure about contractrs) if you give a cash bonus you have to take taxes out of it. And TECHNICALLY the contractor should report it as I believe there is a place on the 1099 for it to be listed.
If you give cash cash (a couple franklins) then you can you as a business claim it as a deduction?
I'm by now way a stickler for the rules and i've given lots of cash bonuses but in an open forum if i'm giving advice I try to stick to the rules
