You're right...I almost didn't come back to this forum. Everything about the load was/is totally legit. All I needed was someone to drive my own rig that had a CDL. It doesn't matter now since it was handled shortly after I posted the thread. I'm just trying to support my family the best I can and I'm learning everyday...sometimes the hard way. By the way, I'm taking my pre-trip/skills test tomorrow. I will be totally legit after I pass that test. Thanks for all your responses....even from all you douchebag trolls. ;)

I actually DO have my permit, and you're right, I just had too much truck and trailer than my license allows. I was looking for someone with a CDL to drive with me for the duration of the trip. I have a weight limit of 30,000 lbs, the load was about 27,000. I am properly insured, have all the right permits, etc. I just should have waited until my test date. Unfortunately I didn't and it cost me.

Why not just call one of those CDL temporary driver services. They are legit.

Hang in here brother, good info on here to be had at times, but you can't have a thin skin and don't take it personally. Seriously, with the amount of negativity on here, if it was $$$, we'd all be rich by now.

Glad you got it worked out too. I figured you would, lesson learned..... Enough said about that, now go get your A squared away and get on down the road scraping out a living like the rest of us schlubs.....

Stick around. This is one of the good boards. Sometimes the brutal honesty is good. Won't be many that will waste their time blowing smoke up your ###.

The more info you provide, the less we have to assume..... and you know what happens when people assume.

My F550 service truck at 19k lbs only gets about 7mpg anyways. Not like you couldn't get that with a single screw Pete 335 with an ISC Cummins and auto transmission. Plus the ease of servicing.

Fully loaded, I still usually get around 10-11 mpg believe it or not. I run a 2016 Ford F-350 and a 2016 Dodge 3500 w/Cummings and get good mileage still. when the trucks wear out a little the mileage will get worse I'm guessing. Plus I'm running dedicated loads for old clients and am always well under 30,000 lbs GVW. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Mine's just a body job but the service body sticks up above the cab a couple feet. I'm sure that extra wind drag isn't helping things.
