    Hi,
First let me say, I think it is so cool that there is forum where you can get so much support, you all get a standing ovation!!!:biggrin_25514:

My husband, (Chris), and I are thinking about doing the trucker/team thing. I'm thinking to myself, "me driving an 18 wheeler, I won't even drive his extend cab truck. So am I even teachable to drive a big rig??" I watch Ice Road Tuckers and think if Lisa can do it, then why can't I? :biggrin_2559:

Chis was hauling 5th wheels for a while but we hated being separated from each other. Since a couple years of his driving, we now have pondered the thought about us teaming up and hitting the road. So I'm coming to this forum asking for feedback from the prose!

We need info on the top companies that offer truck training upon hiring. And would he really need the schooling since he's pretty good at hauling? Could he just get by taking the test?

Also, the prose & cons of being on the road, what do U eat, where do you wash your clothes, brush your teeth in the morning, stuff like that. If we do decide to take this plunge, we'd like to have hauls on the East & West Coast, so what companies offers training and runs in those locations? So any feedback anyone can give us would be so greatly appreciate!!!

    Thnx,
    Carol

    Welcome to the Forum!

You might want to start a thread in the questions from newbies section, you'll get more answers...

There are tons of companies that train, and companies love teams because they make more money for the companies.

You and your husband will both need, to go to school, for insurance reasons. I hear swift is decent for Husband/Wife Teams and they can train him first, then train you for free afterward and he can train you out on the road....

You do your laundry either at truck stops/ laundry mats/ or your companies terminal (Depending on the company). And you can either eat in truck stops or find a restaurant to go to, or better yet learn to cook out of your truck to save allot of money and stay healthy. Same with showers they are located inside truck stops, there free when you buy 50 gallons or more of diesel from the truck stop (At most truck stops) otherwise its $10.

    Good Luck!

    hello and welcome!

There's a good thread in the Drivers health section about healthy eating in the truck. If you can get a fridge and a microwave then you can eat really well, but even with a crockpot its manageable. just takes a little planning ahead to run by a wally world and stock up.

If you don't want to drive a T/T why don't you look into driving a streight truck for an expedite company
