    Hi,
First let me say, I think it is so cool that there is forum where you can get so much support, you all get a standing ovation!!!:biggrin_25514:

My husband, (Chris), and I are thinking about doing the trucker/team thing. I'm thinking to myself, "me driving an 18 wheeler, I won't even drive his extend cab truck. So am I even teachable to drive a big rig??" I watch Ice Road Tuckers and think if Lisa can do it, then why can't I? :biggrin_2559:

Chis was hauling 5th wheels for a while but we hated being separated from each other. Since a couple years of his driving, we now have pondered the thought about us teaming up and hitting the road. So I'm coming to this forum asking for feedback from the prose!

We need info on the top companies that offer truck training upon hiring. And would he really need the schooling since he's pretty good at hauling? Could he just get by taking the test?

Also, the prose & cons of being on the road, what do U eat, where do you wash your clothes, brush your teeth in the morning, stuff like that. If we do decide to take this plunge, we'd like to have hauls on the East & West Coast, so what companies offers training and runs in those locations? So any feedback anyone can give us would be so greatly appreciate!!!

    Thnx,
    Carol

You cant take Lisa's experience on IRT and apply it to driving 48 states without being on TV as a showgirl. She isn't half the driver I have met up with, and I ain't just talking about guy drivers either.

OTR is the only part of trucking that is still booming, but you need to know that you will be lied to by most every OTR company there is. You wont get home when they say you will for instance.

You will spend lots of money in truckslops doing your clothes, eating food, brushing your teeth, getting showers and getting WiFi access. Get a good laptop so the internet is still cheap. A nice cellphone and a refridge and TV for the Combo will help pass the time too. You will be waiting for days or hours to get unloaded where you are going.
