Hello. I’m having probems with my motor, idles rough, runs rough, white- blue smoke smells like an oil or raw diesel. Sound is mumbling on high rpms, like i have a boost leak, but i dont, i get 47 to 49 lb of boost. Its still under warranty, but cant seem to find a reputable cat dealer to get to the bottom of the problem. Fuel pressure is 72 idle and 92 high rpms. One cat mechanich advised me to change fuel lines and try to get it up 80 psi idle and 100on high. However, i dont think the fuel pressure is the problem. Once in every while it runs smooth, even under heavy load, could last for a day or two to a week or two, feels great, quite and pretty powerful, but most of the time its just sucking a fuel and running rough. I have 1850 tourque trans and uprated by cat to 550hp heavy hauler. This use to be a good engine till platinum kit overhaul. After that its just a pain. Does any one know good cat shop or mechanic? Preferebly who will honor the warranty or just any one?

Mumbling as in sounds like a drumming noise coming from the motor? Where are you located?

Have you pulled the valve covers to check your rocker arm/IVA shaft bolts and rocker arms themselves? Not uncommon for broken bolts and rocker arms, although I wouldn't think you'd be driving it very far if that was the case. It would be an easy thing to rule out though

Yes, i just had it in the cat shop, they checked all that and ran overhead valve adjustments, non of that is an issue. Few cat dealers wants me to replace all fuel components to get fuel pressure up to a 100psi, before they will put it on a Dino and im going to do that this weekand, but whit-blue smoke with smell of burnt oil doesnt make sense

White blue smoke and running rough? White is water, blue is oil. Sounds like a head gasket or head.

If thats the case it could possibly be a reman head they used and the valves seats were not installed/machined properly are not seating which would explain the noise and the smoke. Try posting up a good quality vid so we can see and hear.

Cat dod the overhaul and they were swearing they have had pit the new head on. I got platinum package and its under warranty so, but who knows. Not every cat dealer is as good as they say they are. Patten Cat, you all stay away from that place. I dont know, im just gonna replace all fuel lines, t-s, transfer pump and secondary fuel filter base, to eliminate possible air or clog and take it to dino. Just dont know any really good cat dealer around, was told one in St louis, but....

Oil for sure or raw diesel, but coolent is fine, not in fuel or oil and level does stay steady on the mark.
