    If you own a truck and think the companies aren't doing things right, why not get your own insurance and authority, and be a true independent? Surely you can do better, right?

    So why do you think a company could do any better if they see mostly the same loads that you do? Contract freight is never all that great with the rates, although it is usually high enough to operate with some profit. Go get you a contract or two.
