I need help in choosing a company to work for. I started trucking in December of last year with Werner I was on a dedicated account(dollar general) and it was ok but not really what I want to do and plus everything has been a train wreck since the day I started. I'm looking at other companies but having a hard time finding something that's not OTR or a company that pushes you to be a team(US EXPRESS) I have my Tanker endorsement and I'm working on getting triples/doubles and hazmat. I know that new to this industry but I'm looking for a company that has southeast regional runs. I heard that Schneider was good but it's something about them that I don't get a good vibe from and I've looked at Super Service and the recruiter made everything sound great but I learned the hard way not to trust them any suggestions or helpful info would be greatly appreciated. I live in Montgomery, Al

I want to ask you a question; What is it exactly, that you want out of trucking? I mean, if you could paint a picture of you driving a truck as a career,,what would your ideal picture look like?

I just want a decent company that doesn't treat people like crap or just a driver. I'm not asking to be catered to either my current situation is a little difficult because my mother and sister are home alone and I constantly worry about they're safety while I'm gone. I also know that I have to put in time before I can get a local job I just prefer not to do OTR. My goals are to gain experience, earn a decent paycheck to provide for my family.

    regional/local
    Sysco
    Dartco
    ABF Freight
    Decker Truck Line
    Southeastern Freight Lines
    Eagle Express Lines, Inc.
    Halsey Food Service
    Letica Freightlines
    Celadon - Southeast regional

Savage Services-has an opening for driving fuel tankers and fuel locomotives; but, you don't have hazmat.

Tons of good local/regional jobs in your area, but need hazmat.

When I first decided to become a trucker my goal was to get some experience with Werner for a year and apply for FedEx, UPS or something local but I had a couple deaths in the family and I had to take some time off and they(Werner plus my trainer) couldn't understand that. I'd just like a Southeast regional run. Thanks ChinaTown

Why don't you think about flatbed? Most will get you home every weekend. Just another option for you to look at. Hope everything works out for you driver.

I wanted to be truck driver when I turned 21 and I wanted to drive for TMC but my dad was also a truck driver and he talked me out of it and recently I've been experiencing some back pain and I'm scared that Ill wreck my back even more lifting the tarps. Thanks CMBTMEDIC. Hope I don't sound like a princess.
