there is no set cost of what your truck should cost, there are some pretty decent trucks out there in the 20-25k range and theirs some junk trucks out there for 60-80k. condition condition condition, get the best truck you can find for the lowest buck possible. don't blow you're whole wad on just the truck you need to have money set aside for fuel and plan for some repairs right off the bat.

Internet truck stop and brokers will ring your phone to death.
Buy a used truck maybe truck paper.com and YouTube anything that needs repair.
Buy a used trailer and get your own authority.
Your on your own then. Never ever get told what to do,when to do it, how to do it and how much money they will pay you.

    Bandaid Thanks this.

thanks been searching truck paper books. Trailers can be expensive although I think that's the route I'm headed..Don't mind hard work I but I rather be my boss. Looking for threads on calculating cost so I'll know how to price loads. I see a few on figuring ur operational cost but maybe I'm stupid but don't really understand it. Any help In this area??

have you decided what kind of work you want to do? tanker/flat/van?
have you decided where you want to run?
for pricing loads (done some talking to an O/O) figure out your price per mile to operate (fuel, maint, ins, trk payment{if applicable} oh #### fund) look at what hte load pays . lets just say it costs you .45 CPM to operate. load pays .70 CPM you will make .25 CPM. is that going to be eunf for YOU to make a profit at the end of the week?
