Hi everyone I am new to the trucking industry and need some info from you guys.
In the past i have a pill out ticket that was a 2 pointer. That ticket has been past 5 years. Whould it affect getting a job? I have about 2 tickets with in 3 years. and i have about like 4 tickets with in 5 years. Do most truckin company look at 3 years or 5 years record?
The thing is I just got acepted to Swift trucking school. But i hear alot of people getting screwed over right before u graduate or something. Like the recruiter says that u are aproved but after u get in school and they check everything out they send u home cause u had too many points from before. In that case whould i have to still pay the school or any fees? even tho swift made the mistake of not checking everything out?
Or should i just go to a private trucking school and and get my cdl and try to find a job?
What route do u guy think its better?
Im just worryed that after i get my cdl from a private school if i try to apply to a company they whould not aprove me for my points that i had before.
Help me out guys

Taking a company school won't make your points any more acceptable . Most companies go back 3 years for most tickets but longer for a DUI . You didn't say what the tickets were for it makes a difference if you were 5 m.p.h. over a speed limit or 15 m.p.h. over .

Hes not saying it will make them more acceptable. Hes trying to save money. If I were you, I would try a company school or call a company your interested in and explain everything before attending a private school to see where you stand. The last thing you want to do is pay 5 or 6 grand for a school out of your pocket then be turned down for a job. Nobody knows who you are on the phone so just ask any and every company you want.

If you go to a company school you will have to fill out a paper on your driving history again. Be totally honest. If, while you are at the school they send you packing, then you have to pay your way home. They will not make you pay for the school unless you finish it and get your license.
They really do not like to see tickets for speeding 10 mph+, but if it is less than 3 in 3 years most will let it go, check the driver requirements on there web sites.
NO SUSPENSIONS in last 5 years, is usually a rule, and even then it matters why.
NO DWI's, you will find it almost impossible to find work if you had one EVER.
Reckless driving is another bad one.
Remember, they will check all states you ever had your license in. On mine they had to check LA, MD, FL, NY. All states I have had my class A CDL in.
Good luck, the most they can do on the driving record thing is send you home, with you footing the bill for the ride home. -
Do big companys like swift look at h6 print outs or k4 printouts for hiring?
cause i have like 9 points total from when i had my license from my h6
On my k4 i have 3 points. -
When my husband got his here in California, he had to get the long one that went back 15 years, although the DUI from 17 years was on it also.
-
Do the companies out there check your previous licenses or is it certain ones
-
They get your whole record its actuly the insurance companies that control who gets hired. Most go back three years and usualy get all info that is on your record.

You are supposed to list all states you have held a license in when you fill out your papers.
So they will check all that you list. Also they can check all states, if they want too.
