I have started looking for a new phone.I can't figure out which one to pick as there just so many.I really just want a basic smart phone if that even is out there.I don't care about watching movies or video just really the apps like the truck stop one and goggle maps to help with local stuff.

Go android look at Samsung line, nexus line, motoX, LG g2, HTC one. You can do more and see more on a android then iPhone.

I prefer Android but the IPhone is a good phone too.

Anyway go to a Verizon ATT store or whatever. Play with an IPhone and pick an Android device in your budget.

Get whichever one you like the best.
Spec wise they're gonna be pretty similar unless you pick the cheapest Android.

    The Iphone is ###### proof.

The Android works better, has more resources and generally speaking, can be better- but only if you know how to use it, it's sort of a moot point from a laymen perspective.

Iphone. Phone does not freeze. Everything is designed for the iphone and then companies modified xyz for the other phones. Best of luck.

I just got the Kyocera Hydro Elite on Verizon. Free with 2yr contract, fully submersible in water for 3m at 30mins. Has android system and comes with mobile hot spot built in, plus Slacker radio. Check it out on Verizon's page.

It's really a personal choice, the Android phones tend to have bigger and sharper screens, I-phones are smaller and more compact. Price is comparable on newer devices but older ones can be found on the cheap from various resources. If you have a problem with an I-phone apple is the only option, Android have more available resources to get you going. I didn't like the feel of the I in my hand and the face of it didn't appeal to me either, I ended up with a Samsung G3 and other then the updates messing up my settings every few months I love it, my friend has a I phone 5s I think it is(latest one) and he loves his and can't figure my Android, I guess we're even there!!! I have all the truckstop apps, google maps as well as the generic mapping app that comes from my carrier, I have found more apps for truckers then I could possibly ever need too....

Go, touch them, feel them and just get an idea of what you want to look at and see where it leaves you!! Also, more android phones on prepaid plans these days for less money than an I phone too. something to consider when spending money!!

    Good luck!

I wouldn't get an iphone on account of the google maps issue. I would get an android phone, whichever one. Google maps is superior.
