I have a load going from north Jersey to the hamptons out in Long Island ny. I already loaded the trailer Friday. Delivering Monday, it's a step deck load with 160 miles one way. I am coming back empty so I need to charge enough for the round. The issue is tolls I believe it's over $200 to make the turn. I rarely go out there for this reason. Weight is approx. 13,000 lbs. I was going to charge $1,100. If anyone who runs that area could let me know if I'm in the ballpark I would appreciate it.

I'd go $1200 for a starter, tarps add some, chains add some.
I get $1000 or better for the hamptons n I'm closer than 160 miles, and can avoid the tolls/it'd be $88 or so if I did pay it.

Chains I'm using, tarps I am not. Yeah over $200 in tolls is insane, they are losing their minds. I remember when they first put the toll booths in on the G.W. Bridge. I think if everyone knew that one day it would cost over a $100 to cross the bridge they would have put up more of a fight b4 voting the booths in. I think if I put the rate between 1,200-1,300 it will be a productive day.

Spring n summer you can get mulch back to north jers for like 450/475 That'd be a better turn.

I've never had anything come off that island that paid well. Not saying there isn't stuff, but I don't have that kind of luck. I try to stay away from going out there but sometimes we have these speciality runs that need to go. Maybe if I was out there more I would put something together, but for now I'm happy with making enough on the empty turn. Plus rates have been very poor to say the least so I just wanna keep everything where it needs to be.

How have you been doing? I've been running a lot of Connecticut, you staying busy.

We got hammered with snow, but it got warmer so melting was good. I hate when we get that much, it makes a lot of extra work for me getting all the equipment out of the mega piles. There was less snow in Massachusetts then jersey this year. Hopefully we don't get hit like that again this year.

I hear that. Had a customer direct ship some stuff from the Midwest to Philly. Got there Monday after the snow. Had the driver there all day bc they kept pushing snow around the jobsite; but had nowhere to dispose of it. Ended up having to drop it with the rest of the load up here, & I had to take 4 units down Thursday, was all pretty well melted.
