At some point self preservation has to reign over caring for those other drivers. What CondoCruizer said, they will not shut them down. Your record will be protected and you can move to another place. Put in some applications before you drop the bomb, as you might be able to climb into another company the same week.

I agree. There are other jobs out there. And the problem with documenting all the laws that he "encourages" you to break, is the fact that you are also documenting your own illegal activities which might come back around to bite you in the butt. Not if, but when you quit, on the spot at his "yard", document how and where you left the truck with pictures or a video and if he causes any problems for you in that regard you can always take him to small claims court. I would also demand my last pay check and if he don't give it to you, take him to small claims court, it's cheap and easy. If he is a small carrier I doubt he even subscribes to Hireright so that should not be an issue. Good luck.

I just got a PM with a suggestion for a company. I gave him my phone number. As I stated,.. as of right now I only have 3 months of OTR ( All 48 ). I look at company profiles and most want at least 1 yr. I personally have almost 7 yrs prior,.. just none recent.

Its a shame too. I am in a beautiful truck. High end T660, 13 speed, sunroof, every gauge imaginable, APU with inverter, pulling a 53' Reefer. Even the reefer is like new with polished aluminum wheels. I keep the truck clean. I drive in my socks LOL.

I'll put out some feelers to see if anyone would be interested with someone like me. Until then I am stuck here.

Thank you guys for your concern. I truly appreciate everything. You guys are right,.. when he finds out that I want to quit he will definitely not give me a good reference.

This is probably going to come out the wrong way but there are plenty of companies in Florida that don't so much care about your reference from previous employer's as they do about a clean driving record, which up until this point you say you have.

I have a work history that if I could change I would, but the fact is I can't but through the many jobs I've had I've always kept an upstanding license with no tickets or accidents and believe me I think this is the sole reason why I do not have a problem finding employment.

Don't let that statement justify job hopping, I'm not too pleased with the way I've treated this career over the last 9 years but I'm making strides to get things back on track. Simply put just do everything you can to keep your license clean and if you have to just quit when you get back to Florida, than by all means do so if you feel unsafe. I've seen a lot of ads from Melton hiring with 3 months experience, don't know if they can work with you or not.

You're being ball and chained by a tyrant, to state that you are afraid of this man is a true testament that you need to leave this company ASAP. If you care about your family you will, driving fatigued, exhausted will eventually catch up to you.

I think there's some large carriers that will take you with 3 months recent OTR (try the Celadons, the JB Hunts etc). Also, some companies with their own schools (the Stevens, the Swifts) may be able to offer you an accelerated training program. In addition, just about any of the large starter companies will take you if you can complete a Refresher Training course at a local CDL school. Refreshers are usually quite reasonable in terms of time and cost. I know its seems like your options are limited without a whole lot of recent experience and your tyring to build your DAC, but if what you say is true, I wouldn't stay with the company your with another second.

There are really only two things that any trucker can control that count in this business.... your reputation and your clean CDL. That is all you have to offer prospective employers. Protect both like an old mama bear.

This yutz is risking both and quite possibly your life and/or freedom. Get gone before you become just another statistic on some "reformer's" note pad. Your family deserves better.

This might sound mean, but it needs to be said. Sack up, and stand up for your own health and safety.. if not for you, do it for your family. It's one thing to be worked like a slave, but to be disrespected the way you are is another. You can't just let people walk all over you.

Look you are the only one that can change your decisions. Simply learn the word no. You do not have to work for hom there are lots of jobs.

Here in our area (Bakersfield, CA) you can be working somewhere else tomorrow for good money and be home every night. Its all your choice, we individually decide what were are willing to except.

If its over loaded, or reqires cheating when your opposed to it then simply do not do it. Tell get out of my face, whats he going to do, hit you and if he does you will own him.

Grow some balls and stick up for yourself.
