I guess it depends on what is running off batteries while truck is off. I would prob just disconnect the main pos cable from the 1st battery.

Can someone explain why to disconnect? I leave my truck parked for 3, 4 or 5 weeks at a time and never disconnect the batteries. It always starts right up.

    Jerry12 Thanks this.

It eliminates the possibility of parasitic drain..

All my trucks have always had 4 batteries. I never disconnected battery cable. Just made sure everything was turned off. I have had a truck sit for 6 months and start fine in the summer. Not sure it would have started ok in the northern winter.

If you have computers/clocks/inverter, you would have a parasitic drain, so depending on battery conditions!!!!
