Here is a quick background on myself. Joined the Air Force in Oct 1993 and was assigned to Vehicle Operation where was train to drive all types of vehicles from sedans to forklifts to tractor trailers (flatbed, van, over-sized and specialized trailers) and other heavy equipment, after 3 years became an trainer where was training new troops. Got out in Apr 2003. While in serving in 1998 got my Class A license with hazmat and passenger endorsement. After enjoying time just doing nothing made the choice to go OTR and went with C.R. England and went thru their school and after 7 months of OTR during 2004. I made the decision to come off the road driving due to the lifestyle with young kids at home. Now as my kids are all grown have made the move to get back behind the wheel as an OTR driver. It has been since Oct of 2004. Got myself enrolled at Wiregrass Georgia Technical Collage and is all paid for, with a start date of Jan 11, 2016 with finish date first week in March 2016. As it has been 10 years plus since drove but still have my Class A with just passenger endorsement and able to get hazmat if needed. I do have use of my G.I. Bill and looking for a company that uses this program. What are some good companies to get back into the seat with I do have a few things that I would like to have with a company, a Rider and Pet policy. I am looking at companies with these trailer types van, reefer, flatbed. Plus looking to see what ones start pay is good as well as equipment in the trucks. ex; apu's, inverters, so any and all help will be good as been researching many and just need some input from other drivers out there seeing it and not what can read off company web pages. so pros and cons please

What are your expectations regarding home time?

Do you want to "see all there is to see " or run regional?

Sit down and write out your plan. What type of trucking, what kind of freight, what kind systems the drivers are running at. What type of truck, what kind trailer, is the company self-employed, are they hauling other peoples freight, how do they treat the drivers on general.

What kind of pay, do they pay %, do pay cents per mile, how do the handle per-diem, Can you get home when you want. There's a hundred questions you can ask but only you know the ones most important to you. Just don't go in there blank and take want the give.
