I make more at Prime then most sick workers, but hey you are the one with the 34 years of experience, not me.

Original poster, what is your situation? Just giving a list without much background on what you are looking for or why you are interested in becoming a truck driver makes it hard to get the right suggestions on here.
Good luck in your search. -
Man , I have a lot of research to do to pick this company sponsored CDL gag.
My list is shrinking and becoming ranked...,
1. Knight
2. Roehl
3. USA
4. Millis
5. Old Dominion
6. Swift
7. Con-Way -
Here's a surefire tip: Look at the parking lots. At ODFL, you'll see a sea of newer, nice-looking cars and pickups. No worries about needing a jump start. Then check the parking lots of the others...
Some lots will look like they held a wreck-um rodeo.
Not ODFL! -
On your list scrape all but maybe 5 , 7. 3 is probably the worst, with the rest chasing them.
These driver mills are counting on new drivers sticking around till the end on there contracts then hooking it. Start asking them for there turnover rates. anyone of them will probably be hitting over 100%.
Before you correct me there the ones who claim 130% turn over not my math. Seems that they would go away, but alas they don't.
Get a job on a dock at UPS or FedX, starts as part time and you work your way up, UPS trains, you will go from on call to full time night to yard hostler, to the UPS school for driving. In 20 years you will be the one with the house, car, pickup, boat, motorcycles.
Or go to USA in 20 years you will be somewhere else. Information only as accurate as my memory, so it may have some errors caused by holes made from Dr.Jack's shooters.
Just 2 cents worth. -
Old Dominion would be first, but the quick way to them is CDL school. There's 3 in Murfreesboro.
Millis Transfer - 2nd after Old Dominion
You don't want to be out a month, so if you can get the dedicated account with Prime refrigerated at the Walmart DC in Shelbyville, you would be out and back delivering to Walmart stores, then back to the DC in Shelbyville. If you can't get that account, forget Prime.
R.E.West in Lebanon has their own CDL school with no contract to sign. Don't know how good the pay is. Their big account is in Ashland City hauling AO Smith hot water heaters.
I'm from Nashville area also; born & raised in that area. Lived in Goodlettsville until I pulled up stakes and moved to Las Vegas 2 years ago.
Get 12 months experience and then look at Cardinal Logistics in Goodlettsville at the Associated Grocers warehouse. Real good money and hometime. Check Cardinal Logistics website.

tderrick Thanks this. -
UPS Freight hires off the street for OTR if you have 12 months experience. I think they have a terminal in Antioch or Smyrna. They pull vans and flatbed.Last edited: Jul 27, 2014
