First off, I want to thank all of you in this wonderful community for helping someone new in this challenging industry of ours. Your advice is invaluable and thank you again.

I asked and received so much great advice regarding employees that are taking advantage of us. Now, I have been beginning to think cutomers are possibly taking advantage of us as wll.

What is a standard rate for shipping freight? We use hopper bottoms hauling fertilizer, DDGs, wheat, etc? We also have reefer trailers in which we haul across multiple states delivering food-items.

Once again, I am so grateful to have found this site and I want to thank you again for giving me hope in our little trucking business.

Best thing I can recommend to you is to purchase "RateMate" from ITS. It's one of the many tools we use to check out freight lanes for trailer types when customers ask us for rate quotes. It's not overly expensive and gives you a good idea of what rates have been like in the last 7 days to 12 months. Hope this helps.
