I paid for private school a few months ago in romulus, and am just finishing my 6wk training with Swift. My opinion on prehire letters, it is just verification that you are hireable. No felonies or too many tickets. Schools will take anybody, they just want your money. The state knows this and wants verification from the trucking companies that your employable. Try swift in New Boston for a preletter.

Romulus? Just wondering, was it Suburban Truck Driving School? That's where I went. And it was a hell of a sucky school. The good thing was if you failed your CDL road test, they'd keep working with you til you passed...even if it took 3 months.

Like, for CRST, it meant you DEFINITELY had a job unless you failed road test drug test or physical. They're always pissing people off to the point where they always need someone. seriously. -
Just got a prehire from Werner, working on USA Truck and Im gonna submit for Swift tonight. Any other companies that offer prehires to students that anyone knows of? Some decent companies? Im north of I-94.
I surely want to be solo. No team ########.
By the way, Im going with International Trucking School in Holt MI, I mean hell, a broad owns the school, how bad can it be? -
I myself have went thru Michigan works, and you have to do have pre-hire letters from 3 companies, also they will pay for any supplies you should need for school...I got my pre-hires but it was very difficult because of living in michigan..I plan on re-applying for some companies after I finish CDL training and moving to a southern state, as I am from SC ...I just hope my first load to deliever is back to MICHIGAN!!! I am not fond of this place but thankful they gave me the chance to get my CDL training!! Good Luck to all going this route!!

trainco is not a bad deal, there cost is lower than most, but the training is higher than most

silverlayke, that is something that really annoys me. I live 22 miles from Indiana. Companies will be hiring in indiana, but "omg, you're in michigan! we cant hire you!". i ask if theyre hiring in indiana, yup. But no amount of coersion will get them to even consider the fact that they're being #########. They act like im in detroit or something.
Once, i was asked if i was south of detroit. they said they were only hiring south of detroit. im like, uhhhh..... ...im totally on the other side of the state, so i usually dont think about that, LOL.
Im about an hour and a half from holt, by the way. -
