Im 35 and very interested in becoming a trucker, im single and have no family and love driving so I think it would be perfect for me.
I live in Lethbridge Alberta and im looking for help on paying for my class 1
Im originally from montreal and moved here months ago
I currently have a job but not even close to making enough to save for my course, with everything its about $7000, is there a way that the government or something here in LB that can help me pay for my trucking courses?
The companies that used to pay for your course in turn for a contract seem to have all but disappeared or they dont do it anymore.
It seems like you have to be rich to even be become a #### trucker these days
does the government usually help out with this would u know?
I want to become a trucker but I need help, very frustrating.

Go talk to the school. Most people don't get into driving because they have 5K sitting around, lol. The school will likely have some kind of finance department, that will help you figure out options or how to get a loan.

There are still plenty of companies that will train you to get your CDL, but then you need to work for them for a year. Most people here don't suggest it, but if you want to look into it, Prime Maverick and Roehl are decent companies with training schools (that I can think of atm).

I called a local school here and she said try the government and stuff, I was told to try h&r, but when I talked to them they said the dont do the training thing anymore.
Does the government usually help people that want to be truckers?
I still gotta make a few calls

Alberta is in Canada. I doubt those carriers are an option for him.

Well, I'm in the same situation besides not being in Alberta, Canada. If you was in the U.S. there are so many that I can't even chose as far as company's that have their own school and pay your training. I'm not sure about the government in Canada, but the government in the U.S. want pay for a 3-4 week class. They will let you go through financial aid or FASFA, but I was told the school had to be very long like 20 weeks. I am from north Louisiana and it is a hot spot for the trucking industry. I'm having the problem of choosing a company with it's own school to sign with. They all will lie to get you to sign with them. I have researched and researched and they all seem the same. Then you here from experienced truckers and all of the opinions come out. It gets to become a what do you believe situation. I actually believe the truckers over the recruiters of the companies. But the truckers have their own opinions and likes and dislikes. So, there are many companies here in the U.S. that will hook you up , but you got to research and pick the right one. If there is a such thing. I'm not sure about the Canada situation though. Good luck to ya. I need it as well.

First off, "need Help" is a stupid title. You title should have been "how to pay for cdl school" or something like that.

If your school doesn't offer financing, go to a different school. Going with a school that pays for training is a bad move because then they own you and can pay you as little as they want. You cant quit untill they have paid off your school.
