I am a current Student at Roadmaster and have been turned down by Swift, Covenant and CRST I have a pre hire from PTL but am a bit worried about it seeing how everyone else is turning me down. My Question is can a person with my background make it in this industry or is this just wishful thinking on my part? I have a total of 4 felonies and 1 misdemeanor my felonies are as follows Feb of 2000 I was convicted on uttering a forged Instrument and Failure to appear on that charge however the offense date was in 1991 long story on why it took so long to convict me but never the less its there and I have two felony convictions in Feb of 2000 I also have another Felonie for uttering a forged instrument in 1991 that was ADJ/WH but I hear they still look at that as a conviction then in 1993 I have a carrying concealed Fire arm that's it on my fellonies no as far as missdemeanors I have a violation of probation in 2008 and that's my background so anyone willing to give me there honest opinion I greatly appreciate it

Wow! right now you are going to have a tough time in getting a job.. This is what I don't like about trucking schools.. They tell people "oh ya you can get a job with your past history" then once they collect the money they are done with you and you have no job.... Its going to be really hard for you to find work... economy as it is right now there is just not that many jobs.. You are a risk to them and there are many people they could choose from that are not...

? You want an honest opinion, really? Get a non-driving job, go to work for five years with one employer and have them begging you to stay as an employee - then go look for a trucking job. Oh, and find a job where there is no temptation for forgery.

Thank you for the honest feedback. What about the intention to hire letter I received from PTL?

If you really want to drive... you can not give up trying. Look up every single trucking company you can think of, and keep looking. With your history, you must understand you will hear quite a few "No's", but in the end you may find your yes. Just never give up trying.

I follow-up on the letter, and check with local compaines, but honestly... you may have dug a hole and your just going to have to live with it.

Thanks to all and as it stands right now I have a Job with PTL after I graduate but will see I will keep you all posted and no matter what until I get a "NO" from every truck company there is one thing I wont do is give up

Not something I'm proud of but, I was told 10 to 12 yrs in past I could get a job driving. That is for most companies, some have a never policy, because of the freight they haul.
