I doubt the lane change ticket in private auto will be a deal breaker for "most" major carriers, as long as there is a good 6 months at least of otr last within last 3 years. Some require 1 year in last 2 years. But many of the smaller, "sweeter" outfits to drive for may reject you on either the ticket or the lapse in driving employment.

But I can tell you, you will probably have to prove yourself in a "refresher" period which basically you'll "run with the new CDL grads" and if the guy there is confident in your skills he'll move you on up to the next level or into a solo position. Also, if you plan on driving again, don't let any more time lapse than you already have or your liable to end up having to go through a CDL school from scratch or through an entire mentor program with a carrier.

May already be too late. Wife of a friend was out 14 months. She was told she would have to ride with a trainer for 6 weeks.

And she had 5 years previous experience.

I was out 2.5 years and got back in without having to do a refresher, thank goodness.

Butler Transport out of KC, KS. I've been here a year and just gave 2 weeks notice this morning. I'm all set up for orientation at Pride Transport next month.

Yeah, I'm hoping so. Butler was okay, pay could have been better and miles have been down a bit due to the time of year but I'm sure there are plenty of worse companies to drive for. I'm very grateful they gave me a job at all but now my record is cleaned up with a year of recent experience, many more driving doors have been opened back up.
