Hi, After getting the obvious 2 yrs FB what is required to do heavy-haul/oversize. Specialized training? Driver permits? load permits? Is there a step system? IE- 25ton, 35ton, 50ton? or perhaps 10/12, 12/14, ....length of time driving each? .... Thanks All

The short answer is YES. If the Flatbed co you are working for does OS/OD, then you would have to ask about transitioning into that division.

OR, you go to a company like Keen, that moves a lot of machinery (much of it OS/OD). They will give you specific training for machinery hauling, and provide (for a company driver) all the permits, chase/lead cars, etc. But even there you will start with the smallest stuff, and after proving you are a safe, responsible driver, will move to hauling larger freight.

Or you might conisder working for a local construction /grading/foundation/co. you will learn about many different types of equiptment.often times you will load it yourself
i think keen is a no touch company. other than the chains and signes.
you will not make as much $ as you would otr,but you sure would learn alot very quickley
good luck o/w-o/s is just a ton of fun and pays great after a while
