If your sitting in your truck empty after delivering and decide to get on your laptop to look for a load, your already behind the 8 ball!!!!
With that said drivers should always have loads lined up from one to the next. For the most part I try to have the load Im on plus, two booked behind that. I realize things happen and loads cancel at times for whatever reason but, that doesn't stop me from booking loads. I can't have the mentality that i don't wanna book ahead because one might cancel…if it happens its not my problem.
Need information about LandStar and LS`s load board!!!!

also there are quite a few agents that have offices staffed 24/7. there ave been quite a few time i get load at 8 9 or even 10 at night. sometimes the the expedited automotive load post at 1 or 2 in the morning, and tey need to get pick up no or very first thing in the morning and weather you like the rate or not is up to you, and dont be afraid to ask for more money.

It's horrible . For van . Always . Only go to LS for step deck . These drivers that tell you they're getting 2 bucks a mile - maybe once a month . 67 percent of 2, so 1.34. Dead head is stupid high and unpaid .There's a reason most LS tractors are junk , can't have a payment . I talked to one of the last Ranger guys left , in Penn, he's ok with a dedicated agent at 80 %but everyone else is dyin. ' some guys make it some guys don't ' is just bs for ' some guys stick around crossing their fingers 'if you're new you have 8,000 other guys in front of you . I don't blame the drivers, I lay it on land stars greed at taking too much in revenue and allowing their brokers to double or triple broker . And yes I was in vans a full year before I dropped out I ran my ##* off, I even had a broker who wanted be to work for him as a broker , tried short haul , long , intrastate, all of it. I knew a guy who sold trucks to LS drivers on payments he wouldn't sell to van operators just flatbedders cuz he knew the van guys couldn't make it and he was a retired Ranger guyLast edited: Apr 3, 2016
Alex 82Rus Thanks this. -
Don't forget your running ELDs so can't always just stay up all night and book the automotive load hot load and you have to be in the area for automotive loads

My buddy Sam had a 48. Always made over 2 per mile . Did a lot of LTL. We knew a broker named Danny , a track suit flip flop Bosnian who hooked Sam up with alfalfa from Arizona to Florida for polo ponies . Danny cut LS out of it and they split the extra 25 %. After a few runs Sam cut Danny out by buying the hay directly and selling it to the pony guys directly lolAlex 82Rus Thanks this.
