I wil; be interested in the responses as we are about to take delivery of a 2016 T-800 with the 550 isx and ultrashift plus. We geared it at 3:42 so I am hoping it will be a good gearing for the truck

I was recommended to use these guys for performance tuning and fuel savings(tweaking the ecm for best economy) they do it for much less then the big guys and have been recommended here on TTR too...

I have a Peterbilt 379 that will run more than 90 mph., The last time I used it I was running coast to coast. I ran about 60 mph gross weight about 77k. I got above 6.5 mpg. If you want good fuel economy, slow down . Otherwise, pay the man. Fuel mileage is mostly you. -
A W900 is a brick and designed with aerodynamics not a priority.
Anything over 50mph and you are burning so much fuel pushing air no matter how efficient the drive train is you will be fighting an uphill battle.
Get a slippery truck if you want fuel economy.
Post what you are getting and you will get comments on how you are doing all things considered. -
My trucks a pig on fuel. Wind is everything with a hood. I have gotten 7mpg, but when I'm fighting wind, I barely get 6mpg. I'm at 6.5 mpg on all miles usually rolling 58mph. Ouchie. I shoulda bought that Volvo 770 I had my eye on. Or a cheap FL Columbia or Century.
