You don’t have any friends parents or siblings willing to write up a lease renting you a closet and let you have mail sent to their address ?
have you considered renting at a extended stay motel long enough to get your CDL and other paperwork handled and mailed there ?

No, in my opinion, one of the main benefits of trucking that balances out all the hassles is the ability to significantly reduce the cost of living. The only expense I am willing to pay is the mail service.

The whole point of REAL ID was to put a real physical address with each owner of a DL. States may have a little flexibility in what they accept before issuing you a REAL ID. In my state, the address of my home is printed on my CDL, but my P.O. Box mailing address is where official state notices are sent. Since I have a CDL I can only update that mailing address by walking into a state DMV office. People with a passenger car license can add/change mailing address by using the state online system.

Up until the last year or three states had the option of not meeting Federal REAL ID requirements. One of the penalties, if a state decided not to enforce stricter address requirements was that IDs issued by those states were not allowed to be used to satisfy REAL ID purposes. For example, If the state of Confusion didn't make their Driver License REAL ID compatible, then you needed to present a passport, or other forms of ID to fly on airlines. If the state of Confusion Driver License became REAL ID compliant then the airlines would accept a simple Confusion DL as proof of ID to fly. I think at the start of 2020 or 2021 states no longer have that option. State Driver Licenses must be REAL ID compliant. My state was one of those that was not REAL ID compliant until that recent deadline passed. Now we have to present not just evidence of our identity but also a physical address.

From watching several YouTube nomads (full-time RV users) use the South Dakota mail forwarding service, they did have to make at least one trip to SD to get a driver license and license plates for car/RV. Also the states, if not DMVs do have a list of private PO Box providers, like UPS Store, and watch out for people using those addresses for home address. I don't know if they use extended stay hotels. I don't know if a state Dept of Motor Vehicles DMV will know or tell you if they prohibit using extended stay hotels for a physical address. States usually make rules based on regulations and laws so the DMV policy doesn't have to make sense. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

Unless everything you own fits in your truck cab possibly a storage unit where you keep all your treasures could be used as "permanent address"

A rental lease agreement is one of the items you can use to show proof of residency .
I wasn’t suggesting paying them hundreds of dollars a month for a place you’re never going to live at.
You’re saying you don’t have one single friend or family member that will let you use their address for your drivers license ?
that’s what I did .
I used my parents house .
Each state has a list of what’s acceptable for showing proof of address
Usually a rental agreement and a cell phone bill or bank statement is acceptable .Ralph4159 Thanks this.
