Need route advice: Manhattan on w.36 st from NJ

Call NYC Dot, and they can help you plan a route. For future trips, you can also have them send you a NYC map of all truck routes. If you have Google Maps, you can go to street view, and actually visually track your route. I know Brooklyn, Staten Island, The Bronx, and Long Island fairly well, but not Manhattan.

You can get the NYC Truck Route Map in pdf here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/2011_truck_route_map.pdf. Coming from NJ you'll probably take Lincoln Tunnel or George Washington Bridge (I believe Holland Tunnel is closed to tractor/trailers.) I don't think you can use a tunnel over 13 feet.
