What is a good way to calculate how much fuel I need for a trip. Another owner op told me to add my empty and loaded miles together and then times that by 1.1 then divide the result by my fuel mileage. Is there a bettet way?

I do it a simple way. I don't always try to micro manage my fuel. If the trip is say 600 miles, I take an advance of $500. I know its more than I need but I don't wanna be driving around near "E" either.....

$500 Wow, lucky you! My fuel cost to do 600 miles (half empty, half loaded, would be $877 US. (GVW 140,000).

hmmmm I might have a lot to learn still then.
I take 600 and times it by .70 cents that would put me at $420 more or less

just take total miles , divide by 6 multiply by 4 bucks and ya got it, or simply fill up and quit running trip to trip trying to make a check. operate toward a monthly goal instead of load to load

Don't operate on a string bean budget. You can run on full tanks or you can run on fumes. That's a personal choice which has nothing to do with the bottom line. Build you a fuel reserve or obtain a CC with a suitable line of credit.

Like skateboard said figure your average fuel mileage over time and not just one trip. That will be your divider if you want close estimates. Miles divided by mpg times fuel cost will give you the fuel you need.

Honestly, if you have to ask this question, you aren't ready to own a truck.

Lifes a learning experiance ive learned so far. What may seem natural to others may not be so for other people. Just remember everyone and everything starts from somewhere and something.

Another way to put it is. By being willing and open to learn to do things a new way makes a person more adaptive to changing situations.
