And please leave your Critisism on someone else's thread, I asked for advice not smart Alec responses.
-
And their wasn't anything in there about not being able to switch carriers before 90 days. a lot of leasing or lending outfits put a clause in their deals to keep the leasee or borrower from jumping job to job and its not Critisisim but a fact
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
The problem is the fact you signed a lease. These leases are written in the companies favor, not for you to get rich. We try and try to tell drivers to think long and hard before signing a piece of paper they should know is against them from the start.None of us understand much about legal documents, but we should be aware most leases are written very heavily in favor of the company. There is no such thing as a free lunch.
You sound like a smart person who wants to be his own boss. Very good idea, but leasing ain't for everyone. In fact, not for many.
Good luck.HalpinUout and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I read "leased to PTL" and didn't need to read any furtherRERM, Ukumfe, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this. -
None at all just wonder why some of you drivers first fleece then, second get screwed and then third come here looking for answers? Should be the other way around... Just to set is straight, a 'fleece operator" isn't an "owner operator"... Two different things...Old Iron, spyder7723, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
This is what I believe folks refer to as the 'Flease' deal.
Its not your truck. You are paying a company to use their truck, make their truck payments, maintain their truck, run their loads,.. all under the assumption that its your truck,.. and you are in control.
This is not being an O/O, and in my opinion pretty far from what its like to be leased to a carrier.
This is taking advantage of a naive driver.
Sorry you had to go through this,.. but there is an adage that goes,.. "If its too good,.." And the other I like,.. "Nothing is free".
I would run,.. run fast and find a decent company to hire on with. Start putting money away,.. when you get up near $30k - $50k cash put away,.. then start looking at used trucks and carriers to lease (Your truck) with. This will be a long drawn out process difficult, but it can be done. If you are serious,.. you can do this. In the mean time read up and do as much research as you can on trucks, carriers, tax laws, DOT and state by state registration laws, trailers, anything and everything to do with what you want to do. By the time you have the money put away,.. you should have enough information that no one will be able to pull the wool over your eyes again. Information and experience are key here.
Hurst1johnb, Dave_in_AZ, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this. -
I would just try to forget about trying to get any kind of judgement and take hursts advice. You wont get any money from the carrier and will just aggravate your self further. I know that sucks but just try to move forward. Good luck.
Dave_in_AZ and NavigatorWife Thank this.
