Has nothing to do with your character. The insurance companies dictate to trucking companies who they can hire. I'm not saying it's not possible to get into trucking but your past driving record is still recent, you need at least five years of clean driving record. You can sit here an get mad about asking us. Many folks on this board are experienced professionals with YEARS of knowledge who are only trying to give you the straight answer.
One company that has a program for veterans is Schneider. Call and talk to them. Otherwise, you could get your cdl on your own and try to find something local, like dumptruck, rock hauling, soda and beer hauling.

I understand that but he was question my character with the post he made. That is unacceptable. My character is just fine. Im a hard worker that would like to get into the biz. There is nothing wrong with the explanation you just gave me but questioning my character like i said is unacceptable. -
Question your character...Whats wrong man?? If you DO decide to and you are ALLOWED to get into trucking,-YOU WILL need a much longer fuse...

Wait...you're 24 now, this all happened 5 years ago when you were a Junior in High School?
Is my math wrong? -
I was 16-17 in my junior year. Has something changed since then?
Because that should make those tickets 7-8 years old. -
Phone calls, on line applications, are both free.
Call some companies and present your case.
Send in some applications.
Go from there,
Good Luck !! -
Thanks for serving our country!

You have to clear up your past and that is time. Get the stuff off your record or nobody will hire you. Driving without a license or suspension is considered a major violation. Most companies will ask you what happened in the past three years, so really you don't have to wait five years. Then if you are still interested, use your GI bill and go to school.
I would do alot of reading in this forum. You like to drive and traveling equals truck driving, is just part of the equation. There's alot of stress and negatives to the job besides the fun stuff. Most don't succeed, yet decided to try because they wanted to drive and travel. The rest of the stuff made them quit. That said, I would do alot of reading and asking questions in this forum. It will be a learning experience and eye opener.
You like selling insurance and you like traveling. Why not stick with what you like and add the other. There are plenty of insurance people traveling around to different companies giving presentations and selling policies to employees. Just a thought. -
I don't want to speak for Rerun, but I believe he was not judging your personal character, per se. It read as his statement was in regards to your driving record!
