I'm 37 in Dover DE with a wife and 7 year old. I passed my Class A road test last week, and am now looking to get my start OTR. Right now I've applied to two companies, Abilene and WEL. Which do you think is the better choice and why?

Retired military? If so, do you have any truck exp at all? Do you want to pull tanker? Would you be ok running regional and being home most weekends? I work for a small fleet owner that has a 2012 prostar on cobweb collection status.

WEL thread is dead on here.
Check Tyson Foods website; it shows they hire drivers in Delaware.
Abilene thread on here stays active. @Flattie C Abilene trucks are fast @ 68 mph.

Thanks @Chinatown . I got some vibes from WEL as they seemed very eager to hire me...

Maybe they're ok, I don't know. Not much on here about them.

A little advice about finding a job. Get out and go to all the trucking companies you can. Make a list of what you expect. Even if they advertise that they only take experience drivers go any way. You never know who they will hire. Don't rely on the internet to get your job. You'll end up at the bottom most likely. You need to put a face to your application. Do this while you're filling on line and using the phone.

I hear ya @GasHauler . Problem is that we only have 2 regional/OTR haulers. I've reached out to both to be told no students. Plus living this far south on the peninsula many companies won't hire me as they claim that they can't get me home. I realize I'll have to shovel some ****. To get my foot in the door, I'm just trying to earn as much of a living as I can while I'm knee deep.
