Take what you can from this.

News reports on Thursday, San Antonio has the lowest unemployment rate in the nation.

Does the grass really look that much greener now?

So true, right now i would stay where you are at. Unless you know somebody working with a great company, and they can get you in. Wish that's what i done, but if it's your only move it's really on you. Read up on this site about people getting miles and about freight, maybe that will help you out:biggrin_25511:

And swift might be doing alot of business in Texas...But what are they doin in other parts of the country...If you get a load out...Say to Atlanta..then you have to sit for a couple days for your next load...youve really not made much money...

And Ive been out here 27yrs..Ive seen trucking companies lately with trucks just sitting...That Ive never seen before...Werner,Swift,Schnieder....
and these companies never have a Lay-off..You either sit and wait..or you quit and go home...with no un-employment....

You have to understand these companies make money from you,,just for school....
And some will tell you anything to get you there...

    Kinda like a military recruiter...

    dancnoone Thanks this.

That statement alone should carry a lot of weight. Regardless of how bad things got in the past, JB Hunt never laid a truck driver off due to the lack of freight.

Things have changed a lot. And the big dogs are getting eaten too this time.

i am not really worried about how bad swift is i know if you look hard enough you will find bad things about any of these larger companys. i think that 90 percent of these people bad mouthing these companys are just not cut out to be drivers. i have been around trucks all my life and i know just to drive one can be stressful, let alone all the waiting and bs you have to put up with along the way. i thank you and every one here for helping me in my answer some of the questions i have asked. it seems like a very good site to have especially for a newbie like me

If I had a penny for everytie I heard that statement I'd own swift by now.

sounds to me like your gona do what you want anyways so why ask? heres your answer

SURE! Swift is a great company!!! Best company in the world. They'll line your pockets with gold. heck, dont' worry about miles because they pay so good you don't need to drive many.

Swift is a great example why I would always work for a trucking company that get's their money from a product and not the driver.

you are right i am going to make my own decision i dont need anybody to do that for me, i am all grown up. i was simply saying that if you listen to everything you here or everything you see you prabably would not get anywhere in life. there are alot of people that bad mouth these companys i just dont beleave that they are this bad,now i know every company has its bad side but i also know that your "ATTITUDE" has alot to do with it i think that most of these people need to do more research on how it really is on the road and then maybe this industry would not have such a high turnover rate. i also know that people like you telling these things to other people is just your way of being a know it all. just because you dont get your way does not way and you had a bad experiance does not mean any one else will. frieght is slow but it will pick up. let me guess you have the best job in the industry. please dont take this the wrong way, like you its just my opinion.
