i posted in the cb forum but that forum is dead and takes forever to get an answer....so here goes nothing.
Radio: Cobra 29
Coax: clear 6 foot mini-8 with 16 guage stranded center conductor (x2)
Antenna: browning 78 6 ft whip with coil at the bottom.(x2)
So I hooked everything up and it powered on and as soon as I hit the key button on the mic it blew the fuse. It's a different power cord because I lost my other stock one so I'm using a 3 pin, 2 wire fused power cord 16 guage copper. Not sure if that has something to do with it. Fuse is 250v.
Anyone have advice on what to do? It's a Mack truck.
Need some help please

What amp is fuse?
-
A 250V fuse, for a 12V application?
A non-stock cord.
What is the AMP rating of the fuse?
Why not just buy the right one? They can be found in any truck stop or CB shop. -
Idk I did buy it in the truck stop its a road pro. When I opened it the fuse says 250v -
It should have 1A...2A on the fuse. The number is the amperage,if that's a stock 29. Then a 3A or three amp fuse should do,but if it's moded may need a five or seven.
RogerThat72 Thanks this. -
I've had it peaked and tuned that's all. Might have to hit a cb shop. I appreciate your response

You can try a five,if it still blows. Then most likely a short in the final or audio stage.

Yup keep blowing 2A so I'll shop around until I don't blow any lol
-
I was thinking of getting a new radio what would you reccomend? It's now blowing the fuse if I just turn the radio on so idk -
Don't know much about the new radios. I tend to run equipment until it can't be fixed for a reasonable price. Right now I'm running a 99v that's about seventeen years old, with a rk56 that's probably twenty five plus.
