I have three loads leaving eastern Tennessee going to south jersey. Weight is 12'000 Ibs per trailer (if that). Can fit on 48 or 53. Needs to be on dry van tho. Won't fit in refer. Little less then 650 on the miles I think when I do the run I turn like 640 or something. I have a rate of $2,100 per trailer, 1 pick 2 drops. Both stops are in the same town approx 7 miles apart. My question is what's a decent rate to broker this out at. I got guys who want it at 1,700 and some at 1,350. I was thinking somewhere between the two would be fair to the driver and fair to me so I make something decent as well? Like I said freight is light it's palletized 1 of the stops driver needs to pump jack to tail the other is unloaded by the customer at a normal dock. I figure if I could make $500 a load plus do the 4th one myself it wouldn't be a bad deal. Is like 1,400-1,500 decent? Thanks

If you want to be treated like you would like to be take 10% off the top.

If you asked the guy what he wanted and he said $1350 then how is that not fair to the truck? Likely the only difference between the two bids is DH miles.....or the quality of the work.

If I take 10% off the top that doesn't leave me with much to work with. And to be honest there are way to many guys taking work for way less then what I pay. Why would I wanna pay more then $2.50 per mile when everyone keeps driving the rates into the ground. I figured when I get to jersey I'm gonna have to take a load back for like $1.90 a mile so if I can make my money on the way up with myself and the other three loads then it would work out well. I wanna be fair to other drivers and quality is important that's why I thought that $2.50 a mile with a load that weighs all of 9,000 Ibs is a good load for any owner op. I think the problem is that once I post what the load pays guys get a little bent out of shape when they see what I make. There are a lot of loads I only make $100-200 on, this one is one of my better paying runs so I can make up for some of the not so good paying loads.
    Thank you for your help.

then consider brokering the 4th load too and you'll have made $800 for sitting. plus you can then go the opposite direction if that's where the money's at.:biggrin_25525:
