So I'm employed at a business that already has a DOT# and MC# and we want to start utilising the trucks and trailers to bring in some additional revenue. This is a tow/truck repair business. I'm trying to get everything together so we can start running interstate within 150 air miles and occasionaly beyond.
Do we need to modify the MCS150 to include "general freight" "produce" etc etc... It currently only has "Motor Vehicles" as the cargo carried. We would be doing a mix of Van, Reefer, Flat, RGN and possibly tanker.
I'm assuming we'll need a BOC3? Most of our loads will originate locally but we would like to get inbound loads from out of state if available.
Ifta/Irp and insurance are already in place as part of the existing business so I think everything is good there. UCR I'm unsure of...I know we'll need a NYHUT sticker. Is there anything I'm missing? Would it make sense to pay some money to DAT or OOIDA to get everything together?
My plan is to remain an employee and then lease them my truck and drive that. So my business would provide equipment, and their business would provide the driver (me). In that scenario, do I need bobtail insurance?
Need some help with getting an existing business into trucking

Yeah, I'd ask OOIDA for some advice.
