I have a Cobra 29LTD Classic in my pickup with dual Barjan whips. I was reading about SWR so I thought I would see what mine said when I tested it. I just used the gauge that's built in. On channel 1, 20, and 40 my SWR read way above 3, and 20 was lower than 1 and 40, but 1 and 40 were the same, what does this mean as I've read about it being bad to use it like this. I'm new to all this CB stuff so any help would be much appreciated.

get a better swr meter and check it again. remember to only have one antenna hooked and test each antenna separately.

Alright, thanks, I didn't know that I was only supposed to use one antenna at a time, my cousin has a better meter that he said I could use. Thanks for the advise.

both of your antennas probably have a different swr since it doesnt look like you tuned them. now as the tuning goes you will need to tune both antennas to the lowest swr keeping in mind that you want both antennas to have the same swr.

dave102. . . dont hijack other peoples threads. as to how to tune antennas it all depends on what kind of antenna it is. on the fiberglass ones they have a tunable tip, for the whip ones you will need adjust the length accordingly.
