The pay is going to be the same for all the mega-carriers. They are all pretty comparable.

If pay and a good career is what you are concerned about then stay away from them. Take the time to do your homework and find a good smaller company to work for.

That's my end goal after I get a year under my belt. I've talked to a few local fuel delivery companies that said they'd hire me after some OTR exp and get a twic card, hazmat, and tanker endorsement

You live in Tennessee, there are thousands of good small outfits to choose from rather than going with a mega-carrier. The mega-carriers just make it effortless for you guys to get hired on so it makes it more appealing.

I challenge you to think outside the box, not follow the herd, and get a great driving job right out of school! You can do it! Its just going to take a little more effort.

You'll never know what is or what was available to a driver if you don't check it out. GET OUT AND LOOK. These schools have made it bad on new drivers telling them their only path is going to these mega-carriers. It seems that these drivers are sitting back on the computer and waiting for so-called pre-hires. I know I would want my record to stand out from everyone else and sure wouldn't stand for just being placed in a pile. People just do not understand what some companies do when they have applications that are just like the other. We tossed them because we felt if you couldn't come in and check us out then we couldn't be bother. Make a list of what you want out of a company and seek them out. Go for the hardest down to the easiest. You only get what you asked for.

If you don't have an APU, you can hook up jumper cables & use the reefer unit's charging system to keep the truck batteries charged while sleeping in the subzero & not have to worry about the Esbar/Webasto heater draining the batteries.

I knew I'd think of something.

Well I'm going to the Blue Nation just to get some experience under my belt. Aside from fuel delivery, most of the local companies around here either require experience or going bankrupt.

Gashauler hit it! These schools get paid by the mega-carriers to send you to them so they surely won't divulge any other trucking company that is hiring. They want you to think that the top 5 mega-carriers are the only ones that will hire new drivers.

There are over 450,000 trucking companies in the US! There are lots of excellent ones in your area in which would make a great driving career. Do whatever you can to stay away from the mega's!

How long ago did you get the suspensed if it was longer than a year you might still be good with maverick. Its a great company hands down. But I will say usxpress would nit be the place for you if u want solo. If your just starting out you have to run teams for the first six months. I was looking at them also.

Depends on where you live in Tennessee. Many homegrown companies there. Averitt/First Express/LandAir/Purdy Bros/Hoge Motor Co./Howard Baer and many others. Also, several food service companies & grocery companies. I don't recommend First Fleet.
