Um, I don't think so. We've talked about Monfort a lot, and they ran 1693 Cats and a set of clubs and 4 fuel tanks. They promised 2 day delivery anywhere in the US, and that meant hammer down and an automatic would never have taken that.

A simple google search of “Monfort Trucking Allison Automatic” yields plenty of reading.

Well, whatever, but I have a funny Monfort story, 2 really. 1st, there I was, , late '70's, struggling across I-80 in Iowa with a loaded R model Mack one night, 58, maybe 60 down wind, I sees a set of headlamps in the hammer lane, coming up FAST. I hear on the CB, "Don't move", and this freakin' Monfort truck roars by me, had to be doing 100.
Another thing, I have a friend in Minnesota, who saw an overturned reefer, and on the roof, it said "MONFORT, in big letters. Why would Monfort have their name on the roof? I speculate, and I heard rumors of this, Monfort paid off the cops, and the "bear in the air" would see the roof, and radio to the squads on the ground, a Monfort truck was coming. Anybody?

OK so does anybody remember Brisson used to haul a lot of beer for Coors!!
I think them and Monfort were competing for the same drivers a lot of the time!
