are they selling them themselves? I like their set ups, so I'd look into it for sure.

But if it's not good through-and-through, then it's just not good.

The same can be said for all 2008+ engines, doesn't mean I want to buy one.

I'd like to get 2008+ to be able to have the California option. I'd really like to have the option to take a load if I really want it. I grew up with cat engines so it sucks that they went to the two turbo system and made them crap. My dad wants to push me towards Detroit, but he's only ran with the older ones. I have a little experience with the new cummins and really don't mind them at all.

Earlier twins bxs, mxs, nxs, were good motors. Some were plagued with problems and some kept on trucking. I can't tell you how many SDP motors I have seen where rocker bolts broke and fell down galley hit crank and out side of block, or got caught in valve train and went thru side of head or out valve cover. Best case scenario it's 4-5000 for the repair. Look around you will find plenty of 2008 model trucks with less than 600k. Reason is people couldn't keep them running long enough to earn a living and pay for them. They are a good motor once you remove the emissions, they have a stout block, 4 bolt main caps, and a true yellow engine. We are all here to give you advice, and my advice is to walk away, run whatever you have too. Guys have lost accounts, their home, their wives, and there dignity with these motors. My advice if you want a newer cat, is to get a bxs which is easiest to convert to single later down the road. You won't be California compliant, but honestly what are you going to gain by hauling freight there anyways? Pull load boards and make some calls those guys are buying new trucks every couple of years to be compliant and haul freight for same rates it was 20 years ago. I'm just saying if you have our heart set on cat determine what's more important, buying a reliable caterpillar, or saving California's environment while you and your family do without?

Yes I believe so mate, call them and ask though to be sure. I know teh Cummins motors have given them a LOT less hassle than the yellow POS's under the hoods of the earlier ones.. Not to go off topic about you purchasing a truck or anything.....:biggrin_25513:
