Sounds like you're asking to borrow someone's rig and possibly get lessons along with it.
What exactly are yo looking for ? -
Thats a great idea! Much easier to get my hands on one of those! I've got a big Dodge Dakota all I need is to rent a trailer, THANKS!!

Basically. I know how to drive forward and know the techniques of backing, I just need to practice it a million times. Im in Ohio and ive got a job lined up. My boyfriends been a trucker for years just doesnt know how to teach me.
-
What???? He's been driving for years but can't teach you? I think there's a hidden message there.
I love when people ask for help then don't like the answer they get and want to argue.
Like has been said before, this aint a game. Learn the right way.
A car and a U-Haul is NOT a substitute for experience in a Semi.
Would you want to have surgery from a Dr. that could not afford school so they practiced on a dummy? -
Well, you come right out, say it and not beat around bush. As mentioned a car or pick up with a trailer will help but the space relations are different. There's more space required in a big truck...

You say you have your temp, what will you test out in to get your hard copy or do you have it ? Did or can you pass the road test ? In parr, that's what a school is for.

Get your boyfriend to rent a truck and find someone (if possible) that will let you borrow or rent a trailer. Then if you could find a shipper that is closed on the weekend but has no gate, go in there and back in. also you will realize that it is easier to back in between 2 trailers than trying to back in to a open spot with nothing on the lot. The trailers that you are going to back in between gives you a target spot to aim for. Then over the next year or so backing will be natural to you. I sat at a Loves truck stop Friday night for 10 minutes waiting for a driver to get backed in a slot to park. I have to admit that I started to get a little frustrated. I know sometimes spots are tight. But for safety reasons I look at it like, if you cant back it in a spot, Don't try it. Just find an easier one. Not trying to sound rude but there are rest areas that you can pull straight in to. Everyone starts out as a beginner. Its not worth it to take out someones fenders or mirrors. Good luck to you. You will get it.Dumdriver and wannabetruckgirl Thank this.

That's just it, I don't argue, I'm open to all his suggestions. I just don't understand the concepts. I'm trying to learn the right way, but how can i with no practice?
