He does own and have the truck insured. I am just trying to find a more affordable way to learn proper techniques.

There is a serious point to all this. If your boyfriend is teaching you on a company truck, he is putting himself in serious danger of flat out being fired from his job. Also, both of you could be facing legal consequences for not going about your training the right way. Think about it.

I understand what your saying, but does it have to cost me $5,000? Isn't there a more affordable way?

My home state of CT, is one of those states. For me parallel parking a semi is way harder than doing so in a car or pickup, either I am quite proficient at. I haven't parallel parked a semi since that road in June of last year.

Where do most people trying to learn a skill go? Hint: they normally go to a place where professionals from the industry or profession teach people.

$5000 to gain a professional certification in such a short time frame as driving is chickenfeed.. especially when most every carrier have programs to reimburse you for the costs.

Check with your state.. many states have funding and grants available for this training.... and most schools can get a corpse financing for training..

I know some couples dont like to mix finances, but would he be able to lend you the money? Especially if he does not know how to teach, wouldn't he bw more comfortable having his future codriver already having some training behind her. You guys could even write up a contract with payment terms and have it notarized. If he owns the truck, i would hope he has enough income coming in to help you out, because if he doesn't, i would think twice before depending on him to be able to pay you for your time. (That's just me though, and i am sure my opinion will receive criticism. :) )

Parallel parking seems to comes in spurts for me, I'll grab that space no one else wants to attempt for one reason or another or doesn't see. Then I might not see it for awhile, but it's there.
