That area has never had to support a ton of people and is more agriculture than anything else, so with the population they did have, it probably did not suffer as much as the more populated areas either, lots of folks in the midland /odessa, lost houses and businesses, so did houston and austin area. I remember a few big buildings built that were leased to businesses that folded before they ever moved in, and a few years later the owners started tearing them down, because of property taxes.

Are you up around the canadian area.?
We moved to eastern nm, not far from Amarillo in 74, I graduated in 76 and went to houston shortly after.
I moved back to 100 miles east of Amarillo in the late 80's and stayed around 20 years.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I have hauled out of the carbon black plant , and yes there is some industry there besides agriculture, but you mentioned three, not a lot and not near as much population as other places in Texas.

What is more important is the cost of living in most parts of Texas compared to wages is a lot better than most places, or at least it was for years.
And yes, most places have friendly people, plus good food too, lots of good food that I just can't get up here.

Tx Countryboy and alden2007 Thank this.
