Its all one common cavity. Diff and wheel bearings all share the same oil.
Myself I normally just make sure the diff is full, then jack up the opposite wheel several inches to let the oil flow down the axle tube and into the hub. Then re-check the diff level.God prefers Diesels, feldsforever, jamespmack and 1 other person Thank this. -

Good advise, even driving it up on a 4x4 will work.

Oil should be right up to the bottom of the full plug on the differential. Finger shouldn't have to reach for the oil. For the hubs I usually just put a quart in the hub, if you can get the fill plug out of the hubfeldsforever Thanks this.
