My daughter moved to Las Vegas from South West MI. They did not have room for the washer and dryer. I have heard sometimes a person can ship on a truck that is not full. Any ideas how I can go about this and who to contact.

    TIA

Contact a local trucking company or a moving company that runs over the road (OTR) . I havea heard companies doing this, but not your bigger companoes, but it neve hurts to ask.:smt023

You may want to try ABF Freight, they have ads for a service called you pack, where they can drop a pup (28' trailer) and you pack it , and then unpack it. Or you can try other LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) carriers and see what they say (USF,Roadway,Yellow, etc.)

Quite frankly, for the value of a washer and dryer, just sell them at one end and pick up new ones at the other. The amount of difference betwen the sale and the purchase price will be pretty close to the shipping costs. And you have a new washer and dryer at the end of the deal.

Contact Towne Air Freight in MI to move the freight to ORD.
Contact Forward Air to move the freight to LAS.

I am sure the prices will be cheaper than ABF or any other of the 'Big Boy' carriers.

Also, remember to package PROPERLY. I have been amazed at the little amount of time shippers put into packaging their materials, alot of time which are high-value items.

this is true. no matter what the cost of those appliances are, it'll cost way too much to ship them. go out and buy brand new at sears, best buy, or even a "scratch and dent store", that sells new appliances cheaper. it'll be much cheaper than shipping. plus, the possible damages during shipping.
