    HI
I need training. Have a cdl but little experience. I drove a 32' end dump for about 2800 miles. I can not get on with the big trucking company because of an old felony (29 years) and the small companies do not take drivers with less than a year experience. I am looking for an owner operator that would be willing to take me on at a small rate of pay so I can get the experience I need to go to a company.
I am a good driver with a clean MVR . Never had any wrecks or DUI's. Never failed or refused to take a drug or alcohol test. NT endorsement. Can get a hazmat if needed.
I am 47 years old. Hard worker. Always on time . Just tired of the aircraft and cabinet painting jobs. Been doing it for 25 years.
How about one of you guys out there with a small company ?

Why not give Southern Refridgerated in Texarkana, AR a call.

Just be honest with the recruiter.

I'm not fond of this company at all. But, they do try to hire people that apply.

Without knowing what the charge was. I'm not saying with 100% certianty they will hire you. But, I know for a fact they do hire people in your situation.

If they state they can. Try to make sure they have access to ALL the information they need. I watched on driver hand his keys in after orientation (not paid) when they told him he would have to wait a few additional days while they waited on additional information that was slow in coming.

Additionally, you might ask them to fax release papers to you before you leave for orientation. This will give them an additional 2-3 days jump on your background check.

Can you get the record exsponged? Its been over seven yrs. Also google trucking companies alot say they hire if the felony is 5yrs old. Do some reasearch and you should be fine.If your just looking for experience try swift or werner. Best of Luck.

The only reason that you are not getting hired is that you are putting that information on your applications. Most applications have a fine print that says to include it if it were in the last three years, and some say in the last 10 years. If you think that it is absolutely mandatory that you put it on your apps, then you are killing your own chance for hire. It is ultimately the the hiring companies job to do their research on you. If you put it out there voluntarily, then that is why you are having trouble.

Even if you do disclose to everyone, you should start out with local work and then go get that job you really want. If you have had your cdl for over a year, then go through the local CDL temp agencies and you will have work the next day.

    Hope this helps.

    Ray James.
