I need a good Freightliner parts guy or a FLD classic owner to give me a VIN I can work with that has these cab lights.
Seems like they don't stock the lenses anymore. Part is GRAKON 1000. Says right on the lens. Internet searches turn up these Asian Pacific LED ones that look similar but actually have two screws that hold in the lens. Mine are the twist in kind with three tabs.
I bought a few spares some years ago from Freightliner but they ain't coming up with a part now. I got these from a Junkyard 1995 FLD so my VIN won't help. Signal Stat is defunct. Part cross numbers show different lenses like ones that came on Macks.
I need to find 10 lenses or maybe ore if they quit making these things.

These lights came on Kenworths too. I've seen pics of KWs coming out of the factory in 1969 with these up through the 90's.

Parts guys are retarded anymore. Talked to a better one yesterday. I'll swing by today and see if he has the right ones. I'll check KW dealer too.

I looked through truck paper and found a 1988 FLD that had the VIN listed too so I used that.

You got that right. I called local Freightliner the other day and asked for a price on injector o-rings for 12.7 Detroit. He said I need a VIN.... I just told him never mind. Ordered a water tank for a century last week. They sent me a new style tank along with all the caps for the old style. I hate to even call parts people any more.

They have the correct lenses. Dummarse parts guys can't find them on a shelf without a VIN though.

WHile at the Mercedes uh, Freightliner dealer I noticed the band spankin' new Crapanados have these exact same lights.

Just need a VIN. Memphis distribution center had 94 of 'em!

I checked KW and they are unavailable. Poor old classic KW owners have to visit Fr8shaaker shop to get 'em.

Semi Crazy - do you have a part # for the lenses? I'm restoring a '76 KW cabover and need a new set of lenses, in fact I'd probably buy a new set of lights since the chrome on my housings is pitted and peeling.

    Thanks,
    Scott

76kdub they are Grakon. The whole light is 1000. I assume it's the same thing the chrome shops are selling as the same number. LED inside and two screw lens instead of twist on lens and they are over $20 each.

The twist on lens for the old Signal Stat type is Grakon GNI1003T or just 1003T and are around $8 each.

I bought a bunch of Maxxima 2-1/2 Beehive LEDs for around $6 ea and put them inside mine after gutting the inside of the chrome part and wiring in a pigtail. Now mine are 19 LED and look a whole lot better. Got before/after pics to post later.
