I will make this as short as possible...I am in school now will graduate in 2 weeks..my hubby has been otr for 20 yrs..we plan to team..hes been with current co 12 yrs..heres my issue..we have a possibility of staying with his current co..thats no guarantee but it's been discussed..the drawback is that it's a small family owned plant that manufactures boats..he hauls boats primarily for this co..so the miles just aren't there for a team..we can make enough to pay our bills and live tho..IF they decide to put me on..if not then we have to find another co..so I need advise of good companies to maybe contact..heres my issues..i will not train with someone else because I know my hubby is going to make sure I'm doing things correctly and safely because he has to sleep behind me..and with 20 yrs safe driving I feel he's more than qualified..plus we will not work for a company with driver facing cameras..we know what we have to do..we don't need babysitters...so if you have any suggestions of companies that might suit our needs let me know PLEASE

Might stay on where he's at while you train. You won't want or need the "big miles" during that time, because you are learning, and he should be there observing and teaching...NOT sleeping in the bunk resting up for HIS shift. A trainer's truck really shouldn't be run that much harder than a solo rig, although a couple extra hours would be available if needed. Once you reach the point where you can start running as a team, see if they can come up with the extra miles OR take the extra time to enjoy life outside of the truck. For example, if he usually takes 2 trips out and back per week and it takes him 6 days to complete, the two of you together could knock it out in 3 or 4 days and take the rest of the week off to pursue other interests. If that isn't going to work, THEN explore your options...especially if he's with a company that treats him well, runs decent equipment, and is enjoyable to work for. Last thing you want to do is burn bridges jumping ship to a company that is miserable to work for, then job-hopping again for greener pastures.

You might also think about the fact that if you go with a different company more than likely he won,t be able to train you, He would not be qualified as a trainer with someone new. You may need to train with someone else then start teaming together.

LoL... .right? Might be the ONLY way they get their wishes fulfilled. I've been driving almost 20 years myself, and it wouldn't work AT ALL (company, freight, and otherwise....) for me to train my wife. She may go do her OWN gig OTR this summer, totally independent of me, as it should be!

ps: I DO know, that WestSide Transport did that recently for a friend of my wife's.... they are not customarily team, but they adapted for that "dynamic duo..." He trained HER, and now she's a trainer. If you call them, ask about Sue. . . i don't know her S/O's name. They're quite the example there, tho.

That is not necessarily true... he fact that he has 20 years experience will qualify him to train with most companies.. he may or may not need to go through a day or two or three of a company's Trainers Training Class, but should get paid for it..

Wives becoming truck drivers is not uncommon and companies will often let the husband train his wife.. providing he has experience...
