Hi:
I would like to know if anyone, could advise me on how to get back out on the road.
I started driving way back in1975 /1977 , I drove local in the beginning, but, somewhere in the 1980 , I went over the road. I drove up until 1999, at which point I became a silent partner, in a Lodge, up here in Maine , so I thought.
Lately one of the partner slipped and past a remark, that if something should happen to one of them, I would find my rearend back in Jersey, driving a big truck, so I did some investigating, and it turns out my name is not on anything. I have since talked to a attorney, and he said if I walk out, he would represent me, and that I would not walk way with nothing, and that's a positive, but that won't help me right now.
I was wondering, what is the best way for me together back to driving, does roehl offer help for a guy like me. Any advise would be great. Have a great day!

You'll most likely have to pass a DOT Physical & obtain a CDL. Would be a good idea to attended a truckdriving school also. I know that May trucking offers tuition reimbursement for school up to $5k. Most companies that hire students from truck school require the student to go out with a trainer for a period of time & it varies from company to company, but is usually around 4weeks +/-. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, however I do still have my CDL, for some reason, I never gave that up. Will having my CDL already, help in any way.
Best regards

Schneider is a good starter company or in you're case a restarter co. I started out there and they provide the training at no cost to you. That being said, that was late 2003 and then you had to stay there 1 year or pay $3500, not sure what it is now. I know you have a ton of experience, but most all companies want the experience to go back no farther than 3 years. Another possibility is to get your CDL and you may actually find an owner operator to take you on with the experience you already have, but most of the bigger companies such as Schneider,Roehl among others should get you going.

I missed that post about you still having you're CDL. Any of those companies should help you out or like I mentioned in the last post, you may actually find an owner op to give you a chance with all the experience you have although not very recent. Just a thought.

A "silent" partners name isn't on anything, you just front money.
